Palakkad Junction (formerly known as Olavakkode Junction, station code: PGT) was a railway station in Kerala state, India situated in the city of Palakkad and the second largest railway station in the district. Palakkad Junction was the cleanest railway station in the state of Kerala as per the survey conducted by Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation. It was also the third largest railway station in Kerala state as per the number of tracked after Shoranur Junction railway station and Thiruvananthapuram Central railway station. It also boasted one of the longest railway platforms in Kerala. It was situated at about 3 km from Sree Guruvayurappan Temple, 5 km from Puthur, where the famous Puthur-Vela was celebrated annually, 5.6 km from Palakkad Fort, 7.2 km from Dhoni Waterfalls, 43 km from Siruvani Dam and 45 km from Silent Valley National Park. It served as the major railway hub for the city of Palakkad in Kerala while the secondary hub being the smaller Palakkad Town railway station which was situated within the city.
The station was located at 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) from Palakkad KSRTC bus stand. Olavakkode was a suburb of Palakkad city and was located on NH 966 which connected Palakkad to Kozhikode. The station fell in the Palakkad railway division. It was one of the important railway stations of Southern Railway zone of the Indian Railways.

The station was served by five platforms. Platforms 1, 2 and 3 were used for trains going towards Shoranur, Thrissur and Palakkad Town where as platforms 4 and 5 were mainly used for trains going towards Chennai. The electronic interlocking system, which will replaced the prevailing route relayed interlocking system, was also completed. The train traffic in the junction will be considerably high once the trains from Pollachi Junction enterred here. More trains were expected to commenced and terminated from Palakkad once the pit line in Palakkad town station was installed.
